At Four Marks Primary, we value lifelong learning, building skills and knowledge to support our children in the future, alongside academic achievement. Our personal development curriculum is delivered through PSHE and RSHE lessons, and our collective worships. Through these, we give children opportunities to explore safety, how to look after our physical and mental health, emotions, self-regulation, healthy relationships and how to deal with challenges in life. All of these are taught age-appropriately and build in each year group as the children move through the school.
Our PSHE Curriculum Review:
In line with new government guidance, we are in the process of reviewing our RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) curriculum and policy.
Below are some of our plans and resources to give you an insight into how these themes are taught in age-appropriate ways across the school. The plan is labelled with the unit title, and the supporting resources are underneath with the same unit name. Please note that these show the suggested content to be taught. We will continue to decide what is appropriate for each cohort and adjust the teaching as necessary.
Our 'No Outsiders' units are lessons based around books, all of which are readily available online. These lessons promote discussion around issues such as stereotyping, discrimination, fairness and equality. They will each link with the unit of work for the half term they sit within.
We would welcome your feedback and questions on our changes and will also be offering a drop-in session for parents to come into school to view the resources and ask any questions related to the teaching materials and curriculum content. This will be Tuesday 7th July, 3:45 – 4:30pm.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please email them to Vicky, and they will be forwarded on to the appropriate staff members.
